Initially Evisent was engaged to assess existing physical servers, as Contours had been informed they must be replaced. Throughout this assessment, Evisent learned of other issues within their IT environment, such as a lack of patching, unreliable backups, slow response to support issues and a lack of general IT strategy.
The initial fix was to increase server memory and install faster storage, which solved the immediate challenge without a large investment. Once the servers were stable, Evisent were engaged to provide Managed Services, acting as the IT Manager and Support staff for the organisation. Our consultants proceeded to configure a patching/update schedule, implement cloud backups, updated workstations Windows 10, deployed a new firewall, VPN, broadband connection and cloud managed anti-virus. A migration from on premises email to Office 365 also ran in parallel.
Evisent achieved several more years of life from the existing servers, saving around $40,000. During this time, faster broadband was installed that allowed migration to Cloud services, eliminating the need to replace the physical servers at all. The IT management strategy, including support, upgrades and 24/7 monitoring, resulted in improved reliability, reduced capital expenditure, faster turnaround on support issues, while also thwarting many cyber-attacks.
